Last week, newly acquired Grambling State Head Coach Mickey Joseph made a splash in the transfer portal by nabbing former Hawaii RB Jordan Johnson.
This past season with the Rainbow Warriors, the redshirt sophomore played in six games as a reserve. He registered 34 carries for a career-high 198 rushing yards. He added nine catches for 54 receiving yards out of the backfield.
Prior to Hawaii, Johnson was a standout at Allen High School (TX) as a two-sport athlete. As a senior, he rushed for 977 yards on 103 carries with 11 touchdowns. He also caught 20 passes for 347 yards and three scores.
With the departure of Chance Williams and Floyd Chalk IV in the offseason, Johnson has a strong chance to secure the starting running back position for the Tigers in 2024.
The Grambling State Tigers begin their 2024 campaign on the road versus University of Louisiana on August 31st.
